FAQ

What does PPASO do?
Our organization strives to be a resource UCSD pre-PA students can utilize by providing opportunities and knowledge that can help you learn about the PA profession and eventually become one. At GBMs, we have brought in PA-C, PA-S, PA Admissions Representatives, and GRE prep representatives to offer insight and advice about everything PA-related. We also host a variety of Community Service events based in the San Diego area from cooking meals at the Bannister Family House to delivering sandwiches to the homeless. We love to have socials and fundraisers and offer a Peer Mentorship Program with sign-ups occurring in the Fall. We also have a PA Mentorship Program that our most active members can participate in. The greatest thing PPASO can offer you is a network of alumni and PAs who have been in your shoes and are willing to help you navigate the path to becoming a PA.

What are membership points, how do I get them, and what are they for?
Points help us see how active you are in our organization. The more events you attend, or help you provide (tabling, chalkboarding), the more points you accrue! 5 points/quarter and paid dues grants you active member status, which means discounts on shirts and Dine with a PA tickets! Getting 10 points in one quarter is one requirement for participating in the PA Mentorship Program. Attendance at events is also the best way to get to know your fellow pre-PA students. Check your points under the Members tab.
Where can I pay my dues?

I missed the last GBM. What did I miss?
Upcoming events can be found in our Events Calendar. Slides are posted in our Facebook group.
I’m already in PPASO, but would love to be more involved. What can I do?
Apply for Board! Board applications will be out in early Spring Quarter. As PPASO continues to grow, we will need more officers to facilitate and manage our org!
What is Dine with a PA?
Dine with a PA is PPASO’s biggest event of the year, which takes place annually in April at UCSD’s Price Center Ballroom. (Typically around Week 3). We invite PAs of all different types of specialties to have dinner with students in an intimate and friendly setting. Typically there will be a maximum of four students at each table, allowing students to really connect with the PA at their table. Last year we had 17 PAs attend our event! This is a great opportunity to network with PAs in San Diego county, get your questions answered, hear some guest speakers, and enjoy delicious food!
Who can go to Dine with a PA?
Anyone! Tickets will be available at the Box Office, or at the door. Buy your tickets early for a discounted price. Active members receive an additional discount!
I am a PA-C, PA-S, or PA Program Representative. How can I be more involved with PPASO?
Please email us at ppasoatucsd@gmail.com! We would love to work with you and are so glad we can make an impact on the pre-PA community at UCSD together!
