PPASO has been a great community for me to get to learn more about the PA profession through different events, as well as getting to know more individuals who have the same passion and drive as I do. I hope to create a welcoming environment for all and wish that everyone is able to learn more and gain more experience through interacting with us this year. I look forward to meeting you all and having a great year as part of the board!

Major: Public Health w/ Concentration in Medicine Sciences
Hobbies: Rock climbing, playing the guitar and piano, skating
Hi! My name is Mark and I’m a senior (2nd year transfer student) majoring in public health. Outside of school, I enjoy pursuing music and staying physically active. I’ve previously been involved in my local church’s music ministry, participating in the choir and occasionally playing guitar. Physical activity is also a passion of mine, whether that be through rock climbing, lifting, or skating. On the academic/career side of things, PPASO has definitely helped clear up the nebulous process of becoming a PA for me. From meeting other pre-PA students, having MMI workshops, and even connecting students with PAs, PPASO has many resources to offer for those looking to learn more about the profession! I hope PPASO can help you with your journey of becoming a PA and if you ever have any questions, or even want to connect to go climbing or jam, feel free to reach out! :)

Hi everyone! My name is Madelene and I'm excited to be a part of the executive board for PPASO as Co-Treasurer. I joined PPASO my first year at UCSD and have since learned a lot about the profession that helped grow my passion in pursuing this career. PPASO holds informative guest speakers, chances to interact with PAs, and various volunteer events. This club has helped me connect with a community of students/friends who are always willing to provide advice and support as networking is an important skill for any future career. I know the path towards becoming a PA can be intimidating, but I hope PPASO can act as a guide in making the process easier. If you ever have any questions about school or life in general, feel free to reach out to me! I look forward to meeting everyone and having a productive but fun school year!! :)

Alison Stotts
Year: 5th
College: Muir
Major: Structural Engineering
Hobbies: Hiking, watching tv, traveling, and DIYing
Hello Reader! I am a 5th year Structural Engineering student in Muir College. I know what you're thinking, "how does engineering relate to my interest in becoming a PA"? Here's the quick answer: while engineering and medicine may seem like two very different things, they are surprisingly more related than you think. For example, stitching requires the knowledge of how much stress and strain can be placed upon human skin to prevent the skin from ripping, whilst holding the sutures in place. Thus, the stress and strain calculations come from engineering! Neat, right!? I would love to be an example of someone, from a non-traditional background, who can provide guidance on where to take pre-requisite classes and how to obtain PCE hours with no medical experience. My goal as a PPASO Board Member is to provide you with a vast variety of organized information to help you decide if PA is the right career path for you. Personally, PPASO has given me great experience and exposure to the PA world, and has provided opportunities to make connections and get to know fellow pre-PA students. My advice for you dear reader, is to take advantage of PPASO's resources, and if you're ever interested in a certain topic or want more information on specific schools or specialties, just shoot us a message! I am looking forward to a fun opportunity-filled and informational-rich year with you all!

Year: 4th
College: Marshall
Major: General Biology
Hobbies: Playing games, reading manga, escape rooms, and exploring cool places!
Hey there! My name is Tyler, and I'm a 4th year who'll graduate with a BS in Gen Bio. By day and night I'm someone who plays games and reads manga. I'm always down to participate in escape rooms and explore new places! I used to play Tennis, so if you need a casual Tennis buddy, lmk! I came into UCSD as a Pre-med student on a Med School route, but college taught me quickly that I don't really vibe with the extra long and hard schooling lol. My interest in medicine was still my greatest driving force, so I researched the PA profession and considered it as my next path! I joined PPASO and really appreciated the kindness the organization has shown everyone. The resources provided gave further clarity to the PA path, as well as providing cool opportunities to learn from PA students and official PAs. The PPASO website has many resources such as a tentative class and Pre-PA pathway/timeline as well as a collection of schools and their requirements. I implore you to come join us and learn about the PA profession! We'll gladly help you regardless if you're on the PA path or not, so come have some fun!
